Tetra Pak
At Tetra Pak we have been firm supporters of Planet Ark's National Tree Day since 1996.
Tree planting - and replanting - are essential to our business, because the specialised cardboard we use to make milk and juice cartons is based on wood fibre.
We insist that fibre comes from forests where new trees replace those harvested - the real definition of a renewable source.
And, because they are wood-based, our cartons are not only recyclable but make great planters and tree guards for small seedlings. They protect the seedlings as they grow and gradually degrade - returning to the soil. That's fantastic way to put used cartons back to work in the natural system.
In 2010, Tetra Pak supported Planet Ark's "Life is better with trees" competition for primary school students. Students were asked to prepare a project to promote the value of trees for Australia in 2030, a world where technology is more important than the environment.
Tetra Pak awarded a total of $10,000 for the winning entries !
